Compass Cottage Shaldon

Compass Cottage is a two-bedroom terraced property sitting directly on the village green in Shaldon, the small fishing village near Teignmouth on the South Devon coast. Sleeping four across two double bedrooms, it suits couples travelling together, friends or a small family. The heritage-influenced interior combines blues, greys and white throughout, and both bedrooms are on the first floor, reached by a traditional steep wooden staircase that makes the property unsuitable for children under two and worth bearing in mind for anyone with limited mobility.

The ground floor living room has a sofa, armchairs and a dining table for four, along with a flat-screen TV and DVD player. The kitchen is fitted with an electric oven and hob, fridge-freezer, dishwasher, washing machine and a Bluetooth radio and speaker. A cafetiere is provided. Bed linen and bath towels are included; bring your own beach towels.

Outside, a front patio with table and chairs faces the village green, giving a pleasant spot to sit. Parking is on unrestricted public on-street spaces around the green; when those are full, nearby side streets or a public car park roughly a twelve-minute walk away are the alternatives. Up to two well-behaved dogs are welcome, and additional charges may apply.

Shaldon beach is around 500 metres from the cottage, and the village has cafes, a pub and independent shops close by. The South West Coast Path passes through, opening up walks along the coast and inland. A passenger ferry from Shaldon Beach connects to Teignmouth, where trains run to Exeter, Plymouth and London.
