Privacy and cookies
This page explains local preferences, optional analytics, the accommodation maps and what happens when you follow a booking link.
Who we are
Holidays in Devon (www.holidaysindevon.com) is a travel directory helping visitors find holiday cottages, beaches and attractions across Devon.
Booking links
Booking buttons take you to the provider named on each listing: HolidayCottages.co.uk, Sykes Cottages and Booking.com. Links to HolidayCottages.co.uk and Sykes Cottages pass through the Awin affiliate network and carry affiliate attribution and the property reference. Booking.com links pass through Stay22, which adds affiliate attribution. Those services receive your request and apply their own privacy and cookie policies. We do not receive the payment or reservation details you enter on their websites.
Accommodation maps and Stay22
The accommodation maps on destination, attraction and event pages come from Stay22 and load with the page. After your first scroll, tap or click, the site also loads a Stay22 script that adds affiliate attribution to Booking.com links. Both send your browser’s request, including its IP address, to Stay22, and Stay22 sets its own cookies (for example a session cookie that lasts three days) when a map loads or a Booking.com link is used. They load whatever you choose for analytics; the analytics choice covers Google Analytics only.
Optional Google Analytics
Google Analytics loads only after you accept analytics and only on www.holidaysindevon.com. It measures page visits, clicks to accommodation providers and other websites, how far you scroll, file downloads and use of forms. A provider click is recorded as a click, not as a completed booking. The analytics setup does not enable Google advertising signals or personalised advertising.
Information sent after consent
Analytics requests can include a browser identifier, device and browser information, the page title and page path. The website removes the query string from the page address it passes to Analytics and does not pass the referring page address. Clicks to other websites record the address of the link you followed. Do not put personal information into search boxes or URLs.
Changing your choice
Your analytics choice is saved in this browser for up to 180 days. Use Cookie settings in the footer to change it. Rejecting analytics prevents its script from loading. Withdrawing consent disables collection in this browser and removes the Google Analytics cookies set for this site; it does not erase data already sent to Google.
Other website features
Search runs against the website search index. Saved-property and display preferences, where used, stay in your browser storage. Accommodation payments are handled by the booking provider.
Contact enquiries
When you submit the contact form, we use your name, email address and message to respond. Our email delivery provider processes the message. Do not send payment details or booking documents.
Website delivery
Your browser sends technical request information, including its IP address, to the services delivering the website and its images. These requests are needed to show the pages. External sites linked from guides have their own policies.
Your data rights
Under UK GDPR you can ask to see, correct or delete personal information Holidays in Devon holds about you, such as a contact form message. Use the contact page to make a request.
