Star Cottage Shaldon

Star Cottage sits in Shaldon, a coastal village near Teignmouth on the Teign estuary, and sleeps four across two bedrooms. Upstairs there is a king-size bedroom with a television and a separate double bedroom, while a contemporary bathroom with a shower over the bath serves both. A second, newly added WC downstairs is useful for a family of four but should not be mistaken for a further bathroom.

The ground floor centres on a beamed lounge with a wood burner and plenty of seating, opening to a country-style kitchen and dining table for family meals. The kitchen is equipped with an electric oven, hob, microwave, fridge, dishwasher and washing machine, so self-catering for the week is straightforward. Internet access is available throughout the cottage.

Outside, a front patio furnished with bistro-style seating gives a spot for morning coffee or watching the village go by, though it is an open area rather than an enclosed garden. Free public parking is available nearby rather than a private space attached to the cottage, worth bearing in mind if you are travelling with a car full of luggage. A pub sits immediately next door and a shop is around half a mile away.

Families travelling with young children can request a travel cot and highchair in advance, and up to two dogs are welcome, though additional charges may apply. Star Cottage can also be booked together with the neighbouring property, which sleeps a further four guests, making it a practical option for two families or an extended group holidaying together in Shaldon. Check-in is from 4pm and check-out by 10am.
