Croyde
A surf-beach base with Baggy Point beside the bay
Croyde combines a surf beach with walks on Baggy Point. It is a useful base if you want those two activities close together, but the name Croyde on a listing is not enough to establish its position or an easy walk to the sand. Check the provider’s map and the route from the property.
Three different layouts
Buckland is a first-floor apartment sleeping three, with a sea-view balcony and no dogs. Its stairs and compact sleeping arrangement are worth comparing with Bamboo, a detached bungalow for four. Montague Cottage has a private hot tub, but its fifth bed is a pull-out intended for a child. That makes its advertised capacity a poor shortcut for planning a group of five adults.
A downstairs bedroom at Bamboo does not establish wheelchair access. Equally, accepting dogs does not tell you whether your chosen beach route allows them during your visit. Ask about the details that would change your decision before committing to dates.
The beach and headland
Our Croyde Bay beach guide covers the RNLI’s warning about rip currents and the seasonal dog restriction. For swimming, take advice from the lifeguards rather than judging conditions from photographs of the bay.
The National Trust’s Baggy Point information gives parking directions along Moor Lane and warns about limited mobile signal. Arrange parking payment before arrival. If the aim is a coastal walk rather than a day carrying beach equipment, use the Trust’s route description to choose your start point.
Comparing nearby bases
Woolacombe has a different selection of beach accommodation, including a larger house for ten. Ilfracombe puts more emphasis on the harbour and town attractions. Compare both in our North Devon guide before choosing Croyde solely for its surf reputation.
