Bagtor Granary

Bagtor Granary sits on the outskirts of Ilsington, on a working beef farm within Dartmoor National Park, with Haytor among the landmarks in reach. The barn conversion has direct walking access onto the moor, and a sitting room with a plush leather sofa, a Smart TV and a woodburning stove greets you on arrival.

The kitchen/diner has dining space for six and is fitted with an electric oven, induction hob, microwave, fridge/freezer, washing machine, tumble dryer and dishwasher. Upstairs, the master king-size bedroom has its own Smart TV and en-suite shower room, alongside a further king-size room and a bunk room with handmade oak frames; a bathroom with a free-standing copper bath and a separate cloakroom complete the layout.

Outside, the garden holds a private hot tub, drained each morning of checkout and not ready until the morning after arrival, so it's worth timing around; for winter stays between October and March, guests are asked to confirm with the owner beforehand if they want to use it. Off-road parking is provided for two cars, and a fixed stairgate on the first floor plus a removable one for the ground floor suit younger children, with a travel cot and highchair available on request. There are steps up to the utility room and an open tread staircase, so care is worth taking.

As a working farm, guests should expect some noise and smells from the livestock, and a small stream runs along the side of the property, so parents of small children should take care. Short breaks are accepted, with a 3-night minimum stay. No pets are allowed and the property is strictly no smoking. The shop is 1.6 miles away and the pub 1.5 miles.
