Bagtor Mill

Bagtor Mill is a thatched, Grade II listed detached house beside the River Lemon, about a mile from the village of Ilsington near Haytor. Adapted and extended from a 17th-century mill house, it sleeps up to 9, with a maximum of 7 adults across the group.

A long private drive leads to an oak-fitted kitchen with an electric Aga, a dining room, and a sitting room with beams, an open fire and a door onto a terrace. Three first-floor bedrooms include two king-size doubles, one with an en-suite shower room, and a single room with a truckle bed. A further flight of stairs leads to a top-floor family bedroom with a double and single bed under the eaves, and there's a first-floor bathroom with a bath and shower.

The original mill wheel and workings still stand in the five acres of gardens, where the river runs through lawns and ponds. A terrace with outdoor furniture catches the sun, and private woodland paths lead off from the house, though access can be restricted during felling work or bad weather.

The kitchen has a microwave, fridge-freezer, washing machine, tumble dryer and dishwasher, and there's a TV with Blu-ray, DVD and WiFi. Central heating and the open fire keep the house warm, and a cot and highchair are available on request.

Off-road parking is provided for four cars, and up to three well-behaved dogs are welcome for a fee. Smoking is not permitted, and the river and ponds around the garden and woodland are unfenced.
