The Swallow Roost

The Swallow Roost is a compact, Scandi-style holiday pod set within East Devon countryside near Exeter, designed for two guests sharing an open-plan studio space. A kitchenette with electric hob, microwave and fridge sits alongside a fold-out dining table, with the double bed positioned in a corner of the room behind curtains for a degree of separation at night.

There is no separate bedroom here; the whole stay takes place within one studio room plus a wet room, which contains a shower and WC rather than a full bathroom. A welcome pack is provided, and towels are included, so packing can stay light.

Outside, a private patio comes furnished for morning coffee or evening meals, while guests also have shared access to the wider 20-acre grounds, including a pond and orchard reached by cut pathways, ideal for a quiet walk or picnic. Private off-road parking is available for one car, and internet access is provided. CCTV covers the main entrance, driveway, gravel car park and agricultural barns on site.

This pod suits couples rather than families or those travelling with pets: children cannot be accommodated and dogs are not permitted. A pub sits around 500 metres away for evenings when cooking feels like too much effort, and a shop is roughly a mile off. Check-in runs from 3pm, with departure required by 10am.
