The Cottage

The Cottage stands down a farm track outside Hatherton, about 1.6 miles from Sampford Courtenay. It is a thatched, reverse-level property: the ground floor holds three en-suite bedrooms, and the first floor holds an open-plan kitchen, dining and sitting area with a woodburning stove and a first-floor cloakroom. The house sleeps 6 across those three bedrooms and three bathrooms.

Each ground-floor bedroom has its own en-suite: a super king-size zip/link room with a bath, a double with a bath, and a twin with a walk-in shower. Guests also have use of an indoor swimming pool, heated and open from 9am to 7pm, with extra times available by arrangement. A separate laundry and utility room sits away from the main house.

Upstairs, French windows open from the living space onto an enclosed terrace with furniture and a gas barbecue, looking out over the owners' 205 acres of woodland towards Dartmoor. The kitchen has an oven, hob, microwave, two fridges, a washing machine, tumble dryer and dishwasher, and there's a TV, DVD player and WiFi throughout. Fuel and power are included in the rent, and a cot and highchair are available on request.

Off-road parking is provided for up to 4 cars. Two well-behaved dogs are welcome, though pets are not allowed in the bedrooms. The property is reached via a half-mile farm track, smoking is not permitted, and disposable barbecues are not allowed. The shop is 3.8 miles away and the pub 1.6 miles.
