Sou West

Sou West is a detached house in Galmpton, a 10-minute walk or 2-minute drive from Hope Cove on Devon's south coast. The sitting room centres on an L-shaped sofa in front of a gas flame-effect stove and Smart TV, while a separate conservatory snug gives a second spot to sit with views over the surrounding countryside.

The house sleeps 8 across four bedrooms. Two king-size rooms sit on the ground floor, one with its own en-suite walk-in shower, basin and heated towel rail, and both are close to a ground-floor shower room. Upstairs, a super-king bedroom, which converts to a twin on request, and a further king-size share a bathroom with a bath and hand-held shower. Sloping ceilings upstairs mean limited head height in parts of both rooms.

The kitchen/diner is fitted with a Rangemaster range cooker, a microwave, an American fridge/freezer, a washing machine, a tumble dryer, a Nespresso machine and a dishwasher. Outside, the front lawn and rear garden have decking, a gravelled area, outdoor furniture and a barbecue, with countryside views and glimpses of the sea from the garden. Steps down to the garden from the snug are worth taking carefully.

Off-road parking covers 3 to 4 cars, and Sou West welcomes one well-behaved dog, kept off the furniture. The shop, pub, bar, restaurant and beach at Hope Cove are all around half a mile away, and smoking is not permitted inside.
