Michaelmas Cottage

Michaelmas Cottage is a four-bedroom, thatched cottage tucked on the edge of the Devon village of Drewsteignton, one of three cottages hidden from the lane. It sleeps 6, including infants, across a king-size bedroom above the sitting room, a double and two singles, split between two staircases that don't connect, so the upstairs divides neatly into two private spaces.

One staircase leads to two bedrooms sharing a bathroom, the other to two more bedrooms sharing a shower room. From the garden, you step into a big kitchen with a dining area, opening through an arch into a cosy sitting room with an electric stove. A microwave, fridge, freezer, washing machine, dishwasher, TV with DVD, WiFi and a phone are provided, with fuel and power included in the rent.

The lawn garden is enclosed by high walls, with loungers and a table and chairs for sitting out. Footpaths cross the surrounding woodland and run beside the River Teign for walking from the cottage. The village square, with its community pub, is a five-minute walk away, and National Trust Castle Drogo is around six minutes by car. Off-road parking is provided for two cars, and a cot and highchair are available on request.

Two well-behaved dogs are welcome, though puppies aren't accepted. Smoking is not permitted, a returnable bond applies, and the cottage doesn't take short breaks, so stays are booked by the week.
