Broadmoor Farm

This thatched barn conversion sits on a working farm a mile outside Malborough, in the South Hams. The reverse-level layout places the open-plan lounge, kitchen and dining area upstairs, where large picture windows look out over the surrounding countryside, and exposed beams and a vaulted ceiling give the space a rustic character alongside a gas fire with a wood-burner effect.

The four bedrooms are on the ground floor: a super king-size room with its own en suite shower room, a double, a twin, and a double bunk room with a single over a double bed, sleeping up to eight guests altogether. A second bathroom with a bath, overhead shower and WC serves the remaining bedrooms. A travel cot and highchair are available for younger visitors.

Outside, a paved patio with seating and dining furniture makes the most of the farm setting, where cows, goats and pigs are kept. Because the property sits on a working farm, children need supervising outdoors and dogs must be kept on leads; up to four dogs can stay, with additional charges applying. Private parking is provided for three cars, and internet access is available in the property.

Short breaks can be arranged, with a minimum stay of three nights. Arrival is from 4pm and departure by 10am. A shop and pub lie around a mile away, along with a playground and tennis courts, while the coastline near Hope Cove is within a couple of miles by footpath from the door.
