Blackbird Cottage near Appledore

Blackbird Cottage forms a private wing next to the owners' own home, set within the grounds of a 16th-century manor house between Northam and Appledore, around 1.5 miles from Westward Ho!. It sleeps 4 across two first-floor bedrooms, reached by internal stairs, with a separate garden gate entrance for guests.

The cottage's own three-quarter-acre Victorian-style garden has winding pathways, mature trees, a hammock, patio seating and a firepit, kept for guest use only. It's a spot for alfresco dining, reading outdoors or simply sitting with the birdsong after a day on the coast.

Inside, a double bedroom and a twin bedroom share a ground-floor bathroom with a bath, handheld shower and WC. The cosy sitting room has a TV, WiFi and a selection of books, and the kitchen/diner is well-equipped with an electric oven and hob, air fryer, microwave, fridge/freezer, washing machine, kettle and toaster. Gas central heating covers the cottage, and a highchair is available on request.

Blackbird Cottage welcomes one or two well-behaved dogs, though the garden isn't fully enclosed so dogs may need supervising. Private parking sits just outside the main entrance, reached by a short walk to the garden gate, and smoking is not permitted. The internal stairs and period features suit guests comfortable with stairs, and shops, a pub, beaches and the coastal path are all close by.
