5 Fairhaven occupies the top floor of a converted property on a hillside above Salcombe, within walking distance of North Sands beach and its beachside restaurant, and about three-quarters of a mile from the town's shops and waterfront. Thirty-seven steps lead from the entrance up to the front door, worth planning for if anyone in your group finds stairs difficult.

Inside, the apartment sleeps 4 across two bedrooms. The master has a king-size bed, a built-in wardrobe and an en suite with a bath, rainfall shower, basin and WC, plus its own access to the balcony. The second bedroom has twin beds, and a family bathroom with a bath and rainfall shower serves the rest of the apartment. The living room holds a sofa, four armchairs, a Smart TV, DVD player and a gas fire, with a dining table that seats six and patio doors out to the balcony.

The kitchen is well equipped for a week's cooking, and a utility cupboard off the hall holds the washing machine. The real draw is the large balcony on the south west corner, reached from both the living room and the master bedroom, with a table, chairs and two sun loungers looking out over North Sands and the sea. Guests can also use the shared gardens at ground level, and there's designated parking for two cars, end to end, just outside the building's entrance.

5 Fairhaven takes one well behaved dog. A travel cot and high chair are available on request, and WiFi covers the apartment throughout. Smoking is not permitted inside.
