Waves End

Waves End sits in Torquay, Devon, within walking distance of a beach, shop and pub, and offers a practical base for a family group of up to eight. The open-plan lounge, kitchen and diner runs across the ground floor with dual-aspect windows and seating for all guests, along with a TV/DVD and Nintendo Wii for evenings in.

The kitchen has an electric oven and hob, fridge, dishwasher and microwave, and a separate utility room houses the washing machine, tumble dryer and a sink. A freezer is kept in the garage, which doubles as useful storage for beach gear. A ground-floor bathroom with shower over bath and WC completes the downstairs layout.

Upstairs, the king-size double bedroom has its own terrace, ideal for a coffee outside in the morning, while a twin room and a bunk room sleeping four children make up the rest of the sleeping accommodation. A second bathroom on this floor has a bath, separate shower and WC. A travel cot and highchair are available on request for younger visitors.

Outside, a wrap-around decked terrace offers plenty of seating and a gate leading to open space and the coastal path beyond. Off-road parking is provided for two cars. Two dogs are welcome, though they must remain downstairs and are not permitted in the bedrooms; additional charges may apply. The house makes a straightforward base for exploring Torquay and the surrounding Torbay coastline on foot.
