The Wagon at Burrow Hill

The Wagon at Burrow Hill is a hand-built, single-storey wagon standing in a field near Ottery St Mary, based on the design of a traditional shepherd's wagon and built partly from wood from the owner's own land. It sleeps two guests in a studio-style room with a double bed, a kitchenette and a sitting area with a sofa bed.

Outside the wagon is an outdoor kitchen and living space with a gas hob and a woodburning stove, plus a seating area and a firepit barbecue on the lawned area in front. Inside, a cloakroom holds a basin and WC, and a separate shower room has a walk-in shower, with a further external compost WC among the outbuildings.

This is an off-grid property with solar-powered electricity, so heating runs on an air-blown system and high-powered appliances such as hairdryers and straighteners cannot be used, with a maximum draw of 300W. There is no WiFi, though mobile signal is generally good, and the TV monitor has no satellite or terrestrial channels but can be used as a Smart TV via a phone hotspot, with a USB port for charging.

One small or medium well-behaved dog is welcome. Off-road parking is provided for one car, and steps lead up to both the property and the external WC. The nearest shop is 1.6 miles away and the nearest pub 2 miles, and smoking is not permitted.
