The Hideaway at Burrow Hill
Thatched annexe in Ottery St Mary with a woodburning stove
The Hideaway at Burrow Hill is a traditional thatched annexe standing on the grounds of the owners' home on the edge of Ottery St Mary, reached along narrow country lanes. It sleeps two in a single double bedroom with an en-suite walk-in shower, basin, heated towel rail and WC, reached up a staircase with low beams and slightly steep stairs, so it suits guests who are comfortable with both.
The kitchen is fitted with an electric oven, induction hob and fridge/freezer, enough for cooking meals in during a longer stay, and a shared utility room next door holds the washing machine. The living/dining room has original beams, exposed wood panelling and a woodburning stove, with fuel, power and a starter pack all included in the rent. A Smart TV and WiFi cover evenings in.
Outside, the enclosed garden has a lawn, patio and furniture with views across a duck pond to a vineyard beyond, though the garden is not entirely dog-proof, worth bearing in mind with a dog off the lead. Lay-by parking is available for 2 cars off the quiet country lane running past the property.
One well-behaved dog is welcome to stay. The nearest shop and pub are both about 2 miles away in Ottery St Mary itself, and bed linen and towels are included in the rent, so there is little to bring beyond clothes and food.
