The Stables - Orange Elephant

This cottage sits within the grounds of a working dairy farm at Kennford, near Exeter, and forms part of a small complex alongside the farm's ice cream parlour attraction. Guests staying here have free access to the summer meadow and outdoor children's play area on site until dusk, though these facilities operate seasonally from Easter to early September. As it is a working farm, access is strictly limited to the areas set aside for guests, and CCTV covers the wider site.

Inside, the ground floor is arranged as an open-plan lounge, kitchen and dining space, with an open staircase leading up to a mezzanine landing. The kitchen is fitted with an electric oven and hob, fridge/freezer, microwave and dishwasher, and there's a Smart TV and Alexa speaker in the lounge for evenings in. The first bedroom, a twin, is on the ground floor next to a separate WC and has French doors opening onto the courtyard. Upstairs, a king-size bedroom has sole use of an en-suite shower room, while the second twin bedroom shares a family bathroom on the same floor, fitted with a bath with shower over and a WC.

The courtyard is reached through the ground-floor twin bedroom and is an enclosed patio space fitted with outdoor furniture, offering a private spot away from the main farm activity. Private parking for two cars is provided on site, and a lockable shed is available for storing bikes, surfboards, prams or luggage. A travel cot and highchair can be provided on request, making the layout practical for families with young children.

No dogs are permitted at this property. The nearest pub is around a mile away and the nearest shop roughly three miles distant, so it's worth planning provisions accordingly. Internet access is available at the property.
