The Porthole

The Porthole is a semi-detached house about 150 yards from the centre of Newton Ferrers, with a south-facing aspect over the river. The house is reached from the road down 18 steep steps with a handrail, through a private gate, so it suits guests comfortable with stairs. It sleeps 6 across three bedrooms.

On the ground floor, a bunk bedroom sits alongside a well-appointed kitchen with granite worktops and a small breakfast area, and a sitting room with a polished wooden floor and a woodburning stove, opening through French windows onto a sunny terrace. A cloakroom with a basin and WC is also on this level.

Upstairs, reached by steep, narrow stairs, two further bedrooms each open onto their own balcony with sweeping river views: one a double with an en-suite bath and shower, the other a king-size double. A shower room with a walk-in shower, heated towel rail, basin and WC serves this floor. The living/dining room has a Smart TV, and the kitchen has an electric oven, gas hob, fridge/freezer, washing machine, dishwasher and coffee maker.

Outside, the enclosed rear garden has a patio, furniture, a barbecue and a fire pit. Roadside parking is available on a first-come, first-served basis, and smoking is not permitted. A shop and pub are both around 0.1 miles away, with the river just 0.5 miles further.
