Matilda Lodge

Matilda Lodge is a single-storey lodge on the edge of Newton Ferrers, one of four in the Briar Hill Lodges group near the River Yealm. With every room on one level, it sleeps 5 across three bedrooms and suits a family or group who don't want stairs to manage.

The king-size bedroom has its own TV and an en-suite with a walk-in shower, basin and WC. A twin room and a single room provide the other two beds, and all three share a family bathroom with a bath and a shower over. All three bedrooms open off an open-plan living space that combines the kitchen, dining area and sitting room.

The kitchen has an electric oven, gas hob, microwave, fridge/freezer, washer/dryer and dishwasher, and central heating plus an electric fire keep things warm out of season, with fuel and power included in the rent. Outside, wraparound decking with furniture wraps around the lodge, a spot for a coffee in the morning or an evening drink once the day cools off.

One car can park in the lodge's own designated space. The shop is 0.2 miles away and the pub 0.3 miles, so neither needs a car. Matilda Lodge does not accept pets and is no smoking throughout, and it cannot take bookings with a Friday check-in date, so plan arrival around that.
