Converted telephone exchange near Starcross with a mezzanine bedroom

The Old Telephone Exchange sits in the countryside at Mamhead, a former telephone exchange building near Cockwood, within reach of Starcross. It has been converted into a single-storey home with a mezzanine level, and its elevated position looks out over fields towards the sea at Exmouth and Dawlish.

A stable door opens into an open-plan kitchen, dining and sitting area. The kitchen has a four-ring electric hob, a micro combi grill oven, an under-counter fridge with ice box, kettle and toaster, and the sitting area has a sofa, armchairs, an electric-effect fire and a Smart TV with FreeSat. French doors lead onto the patio.

One double bedroom is separated from the living space by a curtain, and a loft-style ladder leads up to a second double bedroom on the mezzanine; this ladder access means the mezzanine is not suitable for young children or anyone with mobility issues. Two armchair beds in the lounge add further sleeping options. A shower room with a walk-in shower, basin and WC serves the property, which sleeps 3.

Electric heating runs on a coin-operated meter, and fuel and power are otherwise included in the rent. WiFi is provided, with strong 4G as a backup. Off-road parking is available for 1 car, and up to three well-behaved pets are welcome. The wrap-around gravel patio is enclosed by a low fence, and there's a 2-night minimum stay.
