The Hayloft At Lowton – Moretonhampstead

The Hayloft At Lowton sits beside a small working farm within Dartmoor National Park, a short walk from Moretonhampstead, where independent shops, cafes, pubs and a small supermarket can be found. This cottage sleeps two, making it a good choice for a couple wanting a countryside base rather than a family group.

A wooden staircase from the ground-floor entrance hall leads to the first-floor king-size bedroom, a generous room with a day bed and a couple of chairs to make the most of the views. There is no door separating the bedroom from the rest of the upstairs living space, though a freestanding privacy screen is available for those who want it. The en-suite bathroom has a bath, separate shower cubicle and WC.

Steps down from the bedroom level lead into the open-plan living and dining area, with exposed beams and a wood burner supplied with a first basket of logs. The kitchen is well equipped with an electric oven and hob, microwave, fridge/freezer, dishwasher and a Nespresso coffee machine with milk warmer and frother. A Smart TV and SONOS speaker are provided in the lounge, and a Bluetooth radio in the kitchen. A travel cot and highchair are available on request.

Outside, a gravelled courtyard offers off-road parking for two cars, shared with the owners, and a 7kW EV charger can be used by arrangement with the owner at a separate cost of 45p per kW, shared with one other car. Guests also have use of an enclosed wildflower meadow across the courtyard, suited to exercising a dog, and a small communal patio area for morning coffee. One dog is welcome, subject to an additional charge. Barbecues are not permitted due to a neighbouring thatched property, and mobile signal is not strong on all networks at this property.
