Traditional Branscombe cottage with wood burner and patio

This traditional cottage sits on an 18th-century terrace in Branscombe, a village known for its scattered thatched buildings running through a Devon valley. It sleeps four across two bedrooms, making it a practical base for a small family or couples travelling together, and a pub stands close by across the lane for evenings out.

Inside, the ground-floor lounge keeps its overhead beams and combines them with newer furnishings, including a wood burner for cooler evenings. Care is needed around the low beams and ceilings throughout. Steps lead down to the kitchen, which has a breakfast bar, electric oven and induction hob, microwave, dishwasher, fridge with a small freezer compartment and a washing machine. Upstairs, the king-size bedroom and a smaller bunk bedroom share a single shower room with WC.

A door from the kitchen opens onto the outdoor space, reached via steps to a secure patio with garden table and chairs, plus a stone-built summer shelter with its own sitting area. An outdoor store sits at the end of the patio, and a gate leads down to the lane. A rotary clothes dryer is available in the shed.

Parking is on-street, with additional space in a nearby public car park rather than on site. Internet access is provided, and a stairgate is available for families with young children. One dog is welcome, with additional charges that may apply. Arrival is from 4pm and departure before 10am.
