The Carriage House

The Carriage House is a Grade II listed former carriage house set in private woodland near Uplyme, sleeping 8 across four bedrooms and three bathrooms. A long sweeping drive with electric gates leads through the grounds to the house, where floor-to-ceiling windows in the open-plan living area capture distant sea and coastline views.

Two bedrooms sit on the ground floor: a king-size room with doors onto the garden and an en-suite of a free-standing bath and walk-in shower, and a double room with exposed stonework next to its own shower room. A hand-crafted staircase leads up to a second king-size bedroom and a family room with a double and single bed, which share a bathroom with a roll-top bath and walk-in shower. A highchair is provided by the owner, though no travel cot.

The open-plan kitchen, dining and sitting area is built around a woodburning stove, and a separate snug with a TV occupies what was originally the carriage section. The kitchen has a gas range cooker, microwave, fridge/freezer, washing machine and dishwasher, and two Smart TVs cover the living spaces alongside WiFi. LPG heating runs throughout, with fuel and power included in the rent.

Outside, a decked seating area and a sunken patio with sun loungers sit among several garden areas, plus an outdoor dining table and a pool table. Off-road parking covers up to 4 cars. Two well-behaved dogs are welcome, and the staircase means the house does not suit children under four. Smoking is not permitted, and summer bookings run as week-long stays starting on a Friday.
