Saddler's Cottage - Appledore

Originally two 18th-century fishermen's cottages, this three-bedroom property in Appledore accommodates up to five guests and retains considerable character throughout. The lounge has a beamed ceiling, two sofas, and a stone fireplace, with remnants of an original staircase adding to the sense of age. A double-height kitchen ceiling gives the cooking and informal seating area an airy feel, and a separate dining room with its own stone fireplace opens toward the courtyard.

Bedroom one is a king-size room with a reading area, served by a bathroom with shower over bath and WC. The second king-size room has an en-suite shower room with WC and can be configured as twins on request. A single room with an iron bedstead completes the sleeping arrangements, and a cloakroom WC sits on the ground floor for daytime use. The kitchen is equipped with an electric oven and hob, slimline dishwasher, fridge, freezer, microwave, and coffee machine, while the utility room holds the washing machine. A Smart TV is in the lounge.

Outside, a private enclosed walled courtyard with outdoor furniture provides a sheltered spot for eating in good weather. The large public car park at Churchfields is a level 150 metres away and has EV charging points, though parking charges apply; on-street parking is also available subject to availability. Up to three dogs are welcome, though additional charges may apply.

The South West Coast Path runs directly outside, connecting to Northam Burrows, the surfing beach at Westward Ho! and beyond. The slipway to the estuary beach is only a few steps away, and the North Devon Maritime Museum is 500 metres from the property. Children under 12 are not accepted at this cottage.
