Quayside Corner

This 18th-century Grade II-listed corner cottage sits directly on the quay in Appledore, with estuary views from the upper-floor lounge. The building's semi-inverted layout puts the sitting room, two bedrooms and the bathroom on the upper level, while the kitchen, dining room and third bedroom occupy the lower floor. Four separate levels connected by open staircases, together with uneven stone flooring in the dining room, mean the property may be unsuitable for guests with accessibility requirements or children under four.

Sleeping up to five, the cottage has a double bedroom on the lower floor, a single bedroom upstairs and a king-size zip-and-link room that can be configured as two 2'6" singles on request. The lounge has a corner sofa, Smart TV and a desk beside the estuary-facing window, handy for binoculars. A shower over bath and WC make up the family bathroom, with an additional separate WC just off the kitchen. Both larger bedrooms have secondary glazing to reduce noise from the quayside, and the Seagate pub opposite closes by 11pm.

The kitchen is equipped with an electric oven and hob, microwave, fridge with freezer box, washing machine and coffee machine. There is no private outdoor space, but the quay itself is immediately outside the front door. Parking is available in public pay-and-display car parks or in free roadside spaces along the quay, subject to availability. One dog is welcome, though additional charges may apply.

Shops, cafes and a pub sit within 50 metres of the front door, and the Maritime Museum is close by for those interested in the town's seafaring past. Westward Ho! beach is roughly three miles away, and the market town of Bideford is around 3.5 miles, from where boat trips run to Lundy Island. Check-in is from 16:00 and departure is before 10:00.
