Picket Mead

Picket Mead is a period cottage in the village of Southleigh, a few miles west of Colyton in the East Devon countryside, next to the village church. It sleeps 5 across three bedrooms and takes two well-behaved pets, with the beaches at Beer and Branscombe about 4 miles away.

Upstairs are a double, a twin and a single bedroom, each with its own character, served by a family shower room with a walk-in shower. The cottage has an older-style staircase that's steeper than in newer homes, and low ceilings and beams in places, worth bearing in mind for anyone with mobility concerns.

Downstairs, the farmhouse-style kitchen/dining room has a Belfast sink, dishwasher, fridge freezer, oven and washing machine, and the sitting room has an inglenook fireplace fitted with a woodburning stove, with a starter pack included in the rent. Electric heating and WiFi cover the rest of the cottage, along with a Smart TV.

Outside, the enclosed rear garden has lawns, mature planting and seasonal blooms including peonies and roses, with space for morning coffee or summer dining. Parking for 1 car is available in the village hall car park opposite, with further roadside parking nearby. Smoking is not permitted, and the nearest shop and pub are both around 3 miles away.
