This former fisherman's cottage sits in Appledore, a short walk from the pubs, restaurants and shops of the village. Sleeping up to six, it has an unusual layout for a coastal property: the entrance hall and all three bedrooms are at street level, with an open-tread staircase (mind the low head height) leading down to a lower ground floor living space.

Bedrooms comprise a king-size, a double and a 2'6" twin, sharing a shower room with WC. A separate WC and utility area, fitted with washing machine and tumble dryer, sit off the entrance hall, keeping laundry away from the main living space.

The open-plan lounge and diner on the lower ground floor looks out over the estuary towards Instow through a large picture window, with a corner sofa, Smart TV and an electric-effect gas fire for cooler evenings. The extending dining table seats the household comfortably, and the kitchen is equipped with an electric oven and hob, microwave, fridge, freezer and dishwasher.

Outside, a six-metre terrace with garden furniture and a charcoal barbecue makes the most of the estuary outlook; note the sea wall is only waist height, so children and dogs need supervision here. There is no private parking, though roadside spaces and a public car park nearby are usually available, subject to local charges. Wi-Fi is included, and a travel cot and highchair are provided for younger guests. Two dogs are welcome, with a third considered by arrangement.
