Number 3 - Appledore

Number 3 sits in Appledore, within walking distance of the harbour, narrow streets and a good mix of independent shops, cafes, galleries and a library. In the warmer months a small ferry crosses the estuary to Instow, where a sandy beach and yacht club are found. The cottage sleeps four across a king-size and a twin bedroom, both on the first floor.

The ground floor is an open-plan lounge, kitchen and dining area, with a Smart TV and a wood burner for cooler evenings. The kitchen has an electric oven and hob, a fridge with ice compartment, a microwave and a dishwasher, suited to anything from a quick snack to a full cooked meal.

Upstairs, the shower room includes the WC, and both bedrooms are on this floor with no ground-floor sleeping option. Outside, a small private patio has garden furniture, useful for morning coffee or an evening drink.

Wi-Fi is included but intended for browsing rather than streaming. There is no private parking; guests use on-street spaces nearby or a pay-and-display car park a short walk away. Two dogs are welcome, though additional charges may apply, and they are asked to stay off the upstairs rooms and sofas, with throws provided for the furniture.

Further afield, Bideford is a short drive away with the Infinity outlet shopping centre, and Westward Ho! has a pebble ridge beach popular for surfing and coastal walks, along with the Royal North Devon Golf Club, the oldest golf course in England. The Big Sheep farm and adventure park is also within reach, and Appledore itself offers live music, gig rowing on the quay, crabbing, and sailing and fishing trips on local waters.
