Mavis Cottage - Swanmoor Grange

Mavis Cottage sits on the Swanmoor Grange estate near Harracott, reached along narrow country lanes typical of this part of North Devon. Built of stone, the cottage sleeps four and suits couples or small families travelling with dogs, with two allowed by arrangement and additional charges may apply.

Inside, an entrance hall leads through to an open-plan kitchen, dining and living space finished with wood-panelled walls and floors. The lounge area is furnished around a wall-mounted Smart TV set above a pebble-effect electric fire, while the kitchen is equipped for everyday cooking with an electric oven and hob, microwave, fridge/freezer, dishwasher and washer/dryer. Upstairs, both bedrooms have king-size beds and their own en-suite: one with a shower room and WC, the other with a bathroom featuring a shower over the bath and WC.

A rear courtyard garden is enclosed and furnished with a table, chairs and a charcoal BBQ, making it a practical spot for outdoor meals and safe for children and dogs alike. A private hot tub is also available for guests staying at the cottage. Beyond the garden, the wider estate offers walking trails across around 40 acres, including river-edge and woodland paths, and a fully fenced dog exercise paddock less than 100 yards from the cottage.

Private off-road parking is provided for two cars, and a welcome pack, travel cot and highchair are supplied for those bringing young children. The nearest pub is around 2.5 miles away, with shops roughly 8 miles distant, so an early food shop is worth planning. Guests should note the narrow approach lanes and drive with care on arrival.
