Mackerel Cottage

Mackerel Cottage is a 200-year-old cottage in Budleigh Salterton, a Jurassic Coast town in East Devon, reached along a pedestrian path from the roadside parking right outside the gated entrance. The cottage sleeps 6 across three bedrooms and one bathroom, with a twin bedroom and the bathroom both on the ground floor for anyone who'd rather skip the stairs.

The ground floor holds the kitchen, fitted with an electric oven, gas hob, microwave, fridge freezer and washing machine, plus a separate dining room and a sitting room warmed by an electric fire alongside the gas central heating. A step divides the kitchen from the lounge. The ground-floor bathroom has a bath, a walk-in shower, a basin and a WC.

Upstairs are two more bedrooms, a twin and a double, completing the three bedrooms that sleep 6 in total. A TV and WiFi cover evenings in, and fuel, power, bed linen and towels are all included in the rent. A travel cot is available on request for younger guests.

Outside, an enclosed rear garden has a lawn, furniture and a barbecue, good for meals outdoors. Roadside parking sits right by the property, and one well-behaved dog is welcome. Smoking is not permitted inside. There are a few steps to watch for: one from the French doors out to the garden, another at the start of the alleyway leading to the property, and the shop and pub are around 0.6 miles away.
