Higher Court Lodge

This single-storey lodge near Welcombe, on the Devon-Cornwall border, suits two people wanting a quiet base with their own outdoor space. The open-plan living area has a sofa, Smart TV and a dining table, alongside a kitchen equipped with an electric oven and hob, fridge/freezer and microwave.

The double bedroom is on the ground floor and is served by a shower room with WC. There is no separate bathroom, so the shower room is the only washing facility.

Outside, an enclosed garden includes decking, patio furniture and a charcoal barbecue, plus a private hot tub for evening use. An open-sided summer house offers storage space for bikes, surfboards or paddleboards and a spot for a morning coffee. Allocated parking for one car sits next to the property. The area has little light pollution, making it suitable for stargazing on clear nights.

A pub is within half a mile, and the nearest shop and beach are both around two miles away. Welcombe Mouth beach, roughly two miles off, has a grassy area suited to picnicking, and the surrounding coastline and cliffside paths give walkers plenty of options. The seaside village of Clovelly, with its cobbled streets and harbour, lies within reach, while Bude and Westward Ho! offer sandy beaches for swimming and watersports.

Internet access is available in the lodge. Dogs are not permitted at this property, and with one bedroom it suits couples rather than families or larger groups. Honeysuckle Cottage stands a short distance away and can be booked separately if additional space is needed. Arrival is from 4pm and departure before 10am.
