Fern

Fern is one of three single-storey wooden lodges at Bydown, around 5.2 miles from Barnstaple and close to Exmoor National Park, with countryside views across the surrounding farmland. It sleeps 2 in a studio layout: a king-size bed, kitchen and sitting area share one open-plan room, with a separate shower room fitted with a walk-in shower, basin and WC.

The kitchen has an electric oven and hob, microwave, coffee machine, fridge, kettle and toaster, and central heating covers the studio through the colder months. Hot water bottles and blankets are provided alongside board games, a Smart TV and WiFi, and fuel, power, bed linen and towels are all included in the rent.

Fern shares communal gardens with its two neighbouring lodges, Jasmine and Willow; unlike Jasmine, Fern doesn't have its own hot tub. Off-road parking sits right by the property.

No pets are allowed and the lodge is no smoking. The nearest shop is 4.6 miles away and the nearest pub about 1 mile. Barnstaple itself sits at the mouth of the Taw Estuary on the North Devon coast, with a pannier market, sandy beaches and independent shops, a short drive from the lodge.

Exmoor National Park is nearby for walking and birdwatching around Barle Valley, Cow Castle and Dunkery Beacon, while Instow, Northam Burrows and Greysands beaches make for an easy day at the coast.
