Burr 2 Shepherds Hut

Burr 2 Shepherds Hut sits in the pasture at Swimbridge, a few miles from Barnstaple, a single-storey studio hut shared with two miniature ponies grazing the grounds. It's one of a group of four shepherd's huts and cottages set among established woodland and a lake. Steps lead up into the living quarters, and the open-plan studio sleeps 2, with a double bed, kitchen, dining and sitting areas all in one room.

A woodburning stove warms the hut on cooler evenings, and the kitchen has an electric oven and hob, air-fryer, fridge, kettle and toaster. WiFi covers the studio, and the shower room has a walk-in shower, basin, heated towel rail and WC. Bed linen, towels, fuel and power are all included in the rent.

Outside, the non-enclosed garden has decking, furniture, a barbecue and a private hot tub, with robes and slippers provided. A chimenea lets you eat outdoors after dark. Off-road parking is provided, along with covered storage for bikes, and Barnstaple's Pannier Market and the beaches at Woolacombe and Saunton Sands are within driving distance.

The hut is adults only, with no children under 16 accepted, and no pets are allowed, though the owner's own dogs may wander the site. Bookings can't start on a Sunday, and the longest short break is three nights. CCTV covers the grounds, and from January 2027 a charge applies for hot tub use.
