Fairview House

Fairview House is a semi-detached period house on the hillside in Dartmouth, spread over three floors and sleeping eight. Guests look out over the town and the River Dart, and the walk into the centre takes 10 to 15 minutes. Fairview Road is very narrow in places, and there are three flights of stairs inside; expect a lot of climbing.

The ground floor is given over to an open-plan kitchen and dining area with an eight-seater table, and a small study area. The kitchen has a five-ring gas burner, electric oven, fridge/freezer, dishwasher, microwave, washing machine and tumble dryer, and there is a TV with surround sound and a DVD player. A large lounge with a fireplace sits on the first floor, looking over the garden.

There are four bedrooms: a king-size on the first floor, and a super-king and a small bunk bedroom on the top floor, with single beds and a cot also provided. Bathrooms are split around the house: a family bathroom with a bath and shower on the top floor, a shower room on the first floor and a separate WC in the utility room. A high chair and travel cot are included.

French doors open from the house to an enclosed garden with two decked areas, a lawn and a built-in charcoal barbecue. Parking is available for two cars. WiFi, gas central heating, bed linen and towels are all supplied, though guests bring their own tea towels, beach towels and oven gloves.

A gardener visits between Monday and Wednesday during stays and does not need to come inside; guests who would rather not have one can ask. Pets are not allowed and the house is strictly non-smoking.
