Cosy Nook

This former fisherman's cottage in Appledore sleeps four across two bedrooms and has been renovated to blend original character with a modern finish. Wooden beams run against brilliant white walls, and sash windows fill both rooms with natural light. The king-size bedroom and twin room each have generous wardrobe space; the twin beds can be linked into a super-king on request. A single bathroom with shower over bath sits on the same first floor.

The ground floor holds a sitting room with an open fireplace, a dining area with a table for four, and a well-equipped kitchen with electric oven, gas hob, microwave, dishwasher, fridge-freezer and washing machine. A Smart TV completes the lounge, and the kitchen door opens directly onto the courtyard.

Step outside into the enclosed private courtyard, furnished with garden furniture and well suited to evening drinks. Parking is in a public car park rather than at the property, so factor that in when travelling with luggage. One dog is welcome, though additional charges may apply, and guests should bring their own beach towels.

The village is a working fishing port with a maritime museum roughly 350 metres away. A ferry from the quay makes the short crossing to Instow, with its waterfront cafes and small beach. Westward Ho! beach and the historic port of Bideford are each around 3 miles from the cottage, and Bideford is a practical starting point for cycling the Tarka Trail.
