Bo-peep

This shepherd's hut sits in the countryside near Higher Clovelly, close to Bideford, and sleeps two guests in a single double bed set within a snug area to the rear, complete with underbed storage and a shelving unit. It suits couples looking for a compact retreat rather than families or larger groups, as the hut is designed for two.

There is no running water inside the hut itself, though a water bottle can be filled at a nearby barn sink, and a kettle is provided for hot drinks. A wood burner, with the first basket of logs included, keeps the space warm on cooler evenings, and four wooden steps with a handrail lead up to the stable door entrance. Washing facilities are located in a separate outbuilding roughly 20 metres away, reached via a lit pathway at night, where guests have exclusive use of a private shower room with WC, along with washing-up facilities and a small fridge with an ice compartment.

Outside, the enclosed garden includes a lawn, fire pit, log seating and a hammock, plus an outdoor dining table and chairs under a covered dining area, with a BBQ bucket and equipment for al fresco meals. A gate from the garden gives direct access to shared grounds and a lake beyond the hut's own plot. Wi-fi and electricity are included, along with a USB charging point.

Private parking is available on site, though CCTV partially covers this area for security. The property does not accept children or dogs, and the nearest beach, pub and shops are a short distance away. Arrival is from 16:30 and departure before 10:00.
