Barnsley House

Barnsley House stands close to the centre of Teignmouth, a 19th-century Georgian townhouse sleeping 13 (10 adults and 3 children) across five bedrooms and four bathrooms. A ground-floor double bedroom has its own bathroom with a shower, toilet and basin, and there are a few internal steps on the ground floor worth taking care on.

Upstairs, the first bedroom has a super king bed and a single, with views over the sea and the Devon coastline. The main bedroom is a four-poster room with sea and Teign estuary views and an en-suite bathroom holding a freestanding bath, double shower and double basin. A third bedroom has a king-size bed with its own en-suite, and a fourth is a family room with a queen double and bunk beds, sharing the house's second family bathroom.

The kitchen-dining room is built around a ceramic-hob island and a large table, and the main lounge has a marble fireplace and three sofas. Outside, a south-facing sun terrace leads down to a garden spread across several levels, some of which are fenced off. A solar-heated outdoor swimming pool, open through the summer months, sits in the garden and should be kept covered when not in use.

The house takes one well-behaved dog, and off-road parking is provided for 3 cars. The shop is half a mile away and the pub around 0.4 miles. Bookings run Saturday to Saturday, and between April and September only weekly stays are accepted.
