Lympstone

A character cottage on the water's edge at Lympstone

Lympstone sits near the town of Exmouth in Devon, and one property here shows what a stay in this setting can offer. Shoestring Cottage dates to the 1700s and is reached via a short footpath, with the estuary running along the garden wall outside its windows. Sleeping six across three bedrooms, it has a well-equipped kitchen with a range cooker, two electric ovens and a five-ring gas hob, a snug dining room, and a lounge with a dual-sided wood burner and Smart TV.

Two staircases, both with steep cottage-style steps, lead to the bedrooms, including a Cabin Master Suite with a vaulted ceiling, a freestanding bath and its own private balcony. Outside there is an enclosed terrace with a charcoal barbecue and an outdoor seating passage overlooking the water. A shower room, utility room with washing machine, and a separate WC complete the layout. Parking is not available immediately outside the cottage; guests unload on the road before carrying belongings in along the footpath. Up to two dogs are welcome, with additional charges applying.
