Totherside

Totherside is a reverse-level house set high above the River Dart in Kingswear, reached up 52 steps through a tiered garden and a steep, narrow access road (around 5ft 8in wide). Almost every room is arranged to make the most of the water views, and the first-floor living space has a fully glazed gable window framing the river below.

Three bedrooms open off the ground-floor hallway: a king-size double and a double, both with en-suite shower rooms, plus a single that doubles as a study or twin room with a child's pull-out bed, sharing a ground-floor bathroom with bath and shower. Upstairs, the first-floor master bedroom has a walk-in dressing room, an en-suite shower room and a private seaward-facing balcony. The house sleeps 8 in total, with a booking limit of 7 adults and 1 child.

The first-floor kitchen and dining area is fully equipped, with patio doors opening onto a sunny terrace for meals outside. A rear enclosed patio and further sun terraces on the level below offer more places to sit, and a table tennis table is kept in the shed for children. A woodburning stove appears in photographs but is not in use.

The kitchen has an electric oven and hob, microwave, fridge/freezer, coffee machines, washer/dryer and dishwasher, with a TV, Blu-ray player, DAB radio and WiFi in the living space. Off-road parking is provided for 2 cars, with additional chargeable parking available in the Marina car park nearby. No pets are permitted, smoking is not allowed, and the steps and steep access mean the property isn't suited to anyone with limited mobility.
