Thorn Cottage

Thorn Cottage is a detached, thatched cottage in a quiet hamlet close to Chagford, sleeping 6 across three bedrooms. A granite fireplace houses a wood burning stove in the cosy lounge, and a separate dining room has its own wood burning stove for cooler evenings, good for entertaining a full house.

Downstairs also holds the kitchen, a boot room for wet dogs and weather gear, and a shower room with shower cubicle, washbasin and WC. Upstairs, three bedrooms sit tucked under the thatch with countryside views: a double, and two rooms with twin stacker beds, sharing a family bathroom with bath, hand shower, WC and washbasin.

The kitchen has an electric cooker, dishwasher, fridge, freezer and microwave, plus a washing machine, and the lounge has a TV with DVD player and WiFi. Central heating runs alongside the wood burning stoves. Outside, an enclosed lawned garden with a barbecue leads to a fenced one-acre paddock with a summerhouse and an unfenced lake, so care is needed with children nearby.

Off-road parking is provided for two cars. Up to two pets are accepted, with a fee charged per dog, and smoking is not permitted. The shop and pub are both around 1.25 miles away.

Chagford itself is a short distance away, with independent shops, several pubs and restaurants, an outdoor river-fed swimming pool open from late May to early September, and a cricket ground. The Michelin-starred restaurant at Gidleigh Park Hotel is also a short drive from the cottage.
