The Watchtower

This watchtower stands on a hilltop above the River Taw in Bickington near Barnstaple, less than a mile from the market town of Barnstaple with its pubs, shops, restaurants, cinema and theatre. The building spans two floors: the ground floor holds an open-plan kitchen and diner alongside a shower room with WC, while the first floor opens into a lounge and double bed where the river views are at their best. Bed linen, towels and electricity are all included.

The kitchen is equipped with an electric oven, hob, microwave, kettle and toaster. There is no washing machine. Heating comes from a night storage heater and the lounge features a Smart TV with DVD player. A travel cot and highchair are available on request. Maximum capacity is two guests, and no dogs are permitted.

Outside, a shared lawn garden with seating is reserved for Watchtower guests only. The garden is enclosed and makes a sheltered spot for evening relaxation, with views across the river when conditions allow. Two cars can park on site. A pub is within walking distance, shops are half a mile away, and the sandy beaches at Westward Ho!, Saunton and Croyde are within easy reach for those who enjoy surfing and watersports.

The property is one of three buildings on the owner's grounds. Arrival is from 14:30 and departure by 10:00.
