The Smithy

The Smithy is a converted stone barn forming the middle cottage in a row of three near Parracombe, close to Combe Martin. The building retains original character, including low downstairs ceilings at 6'6", so taller guests should be aware of this when moving around the ground floor.

Accommodation is arranged for two guests, with an open-plan living and dining room and a well-equipped kitchen area on the ground floor. Steep, open-tread stairs lead to the first-floor double bedroom, which has country views, and the adjoining bathroom with a shower over the bath and WC.

A utility room with a washer/dryer, iron and ironing board is shared with the other two cottages in the row, so this facility is not private to The Smithy. There is a private garden area at the front of the house with a picnic table, plus access to a larger shared garden with additional picnic benches. An enclosed meadow close to the cottage is available for exercising dogs, and one pet is permitted, with additional charges possibly applying.

There is no mobile signal at the property, and smoking is not permitted inside or in the grounds. A designated parking area lies around 50 yards from the cottage; the approach has low kerb clearance and is unsuitable for vehicles with low suspension, though you can unload nearer the door. Internet access is available for guests who need to stay connected during their stay.
