The Linhay

The Linhay is a two-bedroom cottage converted from a traditional Devon linhay, set in the countryside near Throwleigh on the northern edge of Dartmoor National Park. It sleeps 3 across two upstairs bedrooms, a double and a single, both with exposed beams and views over neighbouring fields, sharing one bathroom with both a bath and a separate shower.

Downstairs, an open-plan living, dining and kitchen area has French windows opening onto a garden patio, plus a boot room and a separate WC for muddy boots after a walk. The kitchen has a microwave, fridge, washing machine and dishwasher, and a Smart TV with WiFi covers evenings in. Central heating runs throughout, with fuel, power, bed linen and towels all included in the rent.

A granite wall encloses the garden, a welcoming spot to sit out, with a track leading further to a meadow and stream to wander after a day's walk. Off-road parking is provided for one car, and a traditional Devon inn stands just over a mile away, with the small towns of Chagford and Okehampton a little further for a wider choice of shops and pubs. The Mariners Way footpath passes close by, popular with walkers exploring this part of Dartmoor.

Two well-behaved dogs are welcome at The Linhay, though they're not allowed upstairs or on the furniture. Smoking is not permitted, a returnable bond applies, and bookings of 7 nights must start on a Friday.
