St Helens Chapel Cottage

St Helens Chapel Cottage is a converted former chapel in Croyde, reputedly the oldest building in the village, sleeping seven across three bedrooms. Two king-size rooms and a triple room with three single beds are reached via separate staircases, and the master king sits beneath a pitched ceiling with original oak beams. Two bathrooms, both with walk-in showers and WCs, serve the ground and first floors respectively.

The ground floor centres on a lounge with a wood burner and Smart TV, and a separate dining room with its own wood burner and Smart TV, a practical arrangement for a group of seven wanting different spaces at once. The kitchen is equipped with an electric range cooker, dishwasher, fridge/freezer, microwave and a breakfast bar. A utility room with a washing machine and a downstairs shower room complete the level. Worth knowing before booking: there are a few steps throughout the ground floor and in the garden.

Outside, the former chapel walls enclose a garden with patio furniture and a hammock. A charcoal BBQ, a wood-burning pizza oven and a fire pit are available, along with a solar-powered outdoor shower that is useful after a day on the sand. Two allocated parking spaces sit on the driveway, and the property has Wi-Fi. No dogs are permitted.

The beach is roughly a quarter of a mile away, with pubs and shops even closer at around 0.1 miles. Wetsuit hangers and storage for bikes and surfboards are provided on site, making the cottage a straightforward base for surf trips. The South West Coast Path runs through the village, giving direct access to coastal walking in either direction from the door.
