Springfield Cottage

Springfield Cottage sits over three floors above the River Torridge in Bideford, a harbour town in North Devon, reached by 30 stone steps down from the road, so it is not suited to guests with limited mobility. The cottage sleeps 4 across two bedrooms and one bathroom.

A ground-floor king-size bedroom has river views, and a lower-ground-floor twin room sits next to the bathroom, which has a bath, a shower over and an endless supply of hot water from the combi boiler. The galley-style kitchen is on the ground floor, reached down the steep entrance steps.

The top floor holds the living and dining space, with more river views, an electric woodburning-effect stove, a TV, DVD player, iPod dock and DAB radio. Gas central heating runs throughout, and a washer/dryer, fridge and microwave cover the practical side of a stay. A cot and highchair are available.

Outside, a gravelled space with furniture and a lawn with a gravel patio give room to sit out, though a shared right of way means neighbours occasionally pass through. Roadside parking is available nearby, a shop and pub sit within 0.1 miles, and the cottage is strictly no smoking. Exceptionally tall guests may find some ceilings low, being an older cottage, and the South West Coast Path and Tarka Trail are both reachable on foot.
