Restored gypsy wagon near Ashwater with a woodburning stove

Prudence is a restored gypsy wagon at Panson Mill, in woodland near Ashwater. It sleeps 4: a raised double bed inside the wagon, with a children's den beneath for camping mats and sleeping bags. One well-behaved dog is welcome, though pets are not allowed on the beds or soft furnishings.

A woodburning stove warms the wagon on cooler evenings, and outside, a covered kitchen and dining area has a two-ring gas hob, a grill, an evaporator fridge and a table for meals under the trees. A decked area with furniture, a fire pit and a grill gives a spot to sit out after dark.

A separate shower cubicle has a walk-in shower and a compost WC, reached down steps of varied height over uneven ground, with the decking itself slippery when wet. Guests should be comfortable climbing in and out of the raised double bed. There is no WiFi and mobile signal varies, and there are no plug sockets on site; lighting is solar and kept low to preserve the dark skies, so guests should bring a torch.

Off-road parking is provided for 1 car. The pub is around 1.7 miles away and the shop 4 miles, with the North Cornwall coast and the open spaces of Dartmoor both within reach for a day out away from the wagon.
