Goldfinch

Goldfinch is a restored gypsy wagon on a five-acre smallholding at Panson Mill, near Ashwater, shaded by oak trees. It sleeps 4: a raised double bed inside the wagon, with a children's den beneath for camping mats and sleeping bags. There is no WiFi and no plug sockets on site, and mobile signal varies.

Outside the wagon, a covered outdoor kitchen and dining area has a two-ring gas hob, a grill, a terracotta cooler and a table for shared meals, plus a decked area with furniture, a fire pit and a grill for evenings outside. A small wood-burning stove inside the wagon takes the chill off cooler nights, with a starter pack of logs provided.

A separate shower cubicle has mains water, LPG heating and a compost WC, reached by a short walk down steps of varied height over uneven ground; the decking can also be slippery when wet. Lighting across the site is solar and kept deliberately low to preserve the dark skies, so guests are advised to bring a torch.

Pets are welcome but are not allowed on the beds or soft furnishings. Off-road parking is provided for 1 car, the pub is 1.7 miles away and the shop 4 miles.
