Otter Cottage at West Ashridge

Otter Cottage is a one-bedroom barn conversion on a working farm, sleeping two adults with up to two dogs welcome. Entry is through French doors directly into an open-plan lounge, kitchen and dining area, giving the space a light, unfussy feel. The kitchen is well equipped with an electric oven and hob, microwave, fridge with freezer compartment and a washing machine, while a Smart TV and Bluetooth speaker take care of evenings in. A king-size bedroom leads to the shower room with WC.

Outside, an enclosed courtyard provides a seating area, and a separate paddock is available for exercising dogs off lead. Alpacas graze in the adjoining fields, and guests can arrange to help feed and pet them with the owners. Private off-road parking for one car is included, and an EV charger is on site, though use and payment must be arranged directly with the owner.

Bideford is around two miles away, with cafes, pubs and the covered pannier market worth a visit. Westward Ho! with its long sandy beach and pebble ridge is within a five-mile drive, and a pub is approximately one mile from the cottage. The Tarka Trail is accessible from the area for walking and cycling.

Arrival is from 16:00 and departure by 10:00. The cottage sits within a small complex of two properties on the farm, so guests should expect some activity around the site. Additional charges may apply for dogs.
