Old Maids Cottage

Old Maids Cottage is a thatched, listed dwelling in the village of Lee, near Ilfracombe, with Woolacombe and its beach further along the North Devon coast. Lee itself has winding streets with two thatched cottages and a local pub. The cottage sleeps 6 across three bedrooms and three bathrooms, with underfloor heating throughout.

Two of the three bedrooms have their own en-suite bath with a rain shower, a basin and a WC: a king-size room and a twin room. A second king-size bedroom shares a further shower room with a walk-in rain shower, a basin and a WC. All three bedrooms and all of the toilets sit upstairs, reached by a narrow indoor staircase, so the layout may not suit guests who find stairs difficult.

The open-plan living room downstairs brings together the kitchen, a dining area and a sitting area, warmed by underfloor heating and a wood-burning stove. The kitchen has an electric oven, gas hob, microwave, fridge/freezer, a dishwasher and a washing machine, and a Smart TV with WiFi covers evenings in, along with a small selection of board games for the dining table.

Old Maids Cottage takes two well-behaved dogs, with the option to ask about bringing a third. Off-road parking is provided for 4 cars, and a raised patio area with a lawn sits to the outside for alfresco dining. The village pub is around 100 metres away, and the shop is about 3.1 miles off in Ilfracombe. Lee Bay Beach and views over the Bristol Channel are close by, and the South West Coast Path passes through the area. Smoking is not permitted, and mobile phone reception in the village is limited; WiFi calling works indoors.
