Lincombe Manor

Lincombe Manor is a three-bedroom holiday home in Lee, near Woolacombe, believed to date from the 1500s and originally a Devon longhouse. Low-ceilinged character rooms and stone inglenook fireplaces are balanced by a thorough renovation that makes it a practical base for six guests. A generous hallway handles muddy boots and sandy shoes, and a utility area has space for pushchairs alongside a downstairs WC.

Two separate sitting rooms each have a wood burner and a Smart TV, and a third wood burner warms the dining room. The fully equipped kitchen includes a range cooker with induction hob, fridge-freezer, dishwasher, microwave, washing machine and tumble dryer. Upstairs, the king-size bedroom has its own en-suite with a freestanding bath, walk-in shower and WC; the double and twin rooms share a family bathroom fitted with a walk-in shower and WC.

Outside, an enclosed gravelled courtyard with patio tables and chairs suits alfresco meals on warmer evenings. Guests also have access to a shared lawned area with a pond and a children's play area on the same site. Private off-road parking is available for up to three cars, and up to three dogs are welcome, though additional charges may apply.

Lincombe Manor shares its site with Lincombe Barn, which can be booked alongside it for larger parties. Lee Bay, about a mile away, is well suited to rock pooling and watersports, while Ilfracombe is roughly 1.5 miles away for fishing trips and boat excursions along the coast. Woolacombe's long sandy beach is around a ten-minute drive.
